Parents/guardians receive two types of messages:
- Triggered communications
- Ad hoc communications
Communications are sent by SMS (text) if the parent signed up for their account with a phone number. Communications are sent by email if the parent signed up with an email account.
1. Triggered communications
Triggered communications are automatically sent to parents by Avela when the following actions are taken:
- Application started
- Application submitted (including if the application is being re-submitted after edits have been made)
- Application deleted
Additional triggered communications will be sent when offers and waitlist information is released.
2. Ad hoc communications
Ad hoc communications are sent to parents by organization administrators or school administrators. These can be sent individually or in bulk. See the article "How do I send a message to a parent?" for instructions on how to send these communications.
